Living for Sustainability

It is the overarching objective of our 'Living for Sustainability' theme to provide a positive,, long-term legacy with satisfied customers and clients. It is our aim to provide individuals with opportunities to both lead a sustainable lifestyle and to work in a sustainable environment using less resources and generating less waste.

In order to minimise waste generation and to maximise waste recycling, we strive, through key stakeholder engagement, to influence customer behaviour, consulting on fundamental topics such as water conservation and rainwater harvesting, reduced use of natural resources and energy, the supply of renewables, and the use of Smart Meters.

Through commitment to our Customer Charter, we set customer satisfaction targets and measure customer feedback. In the 2010 HBF/NHBC customer satisfaction surveys, Gladedale achieved a 4-star rating for both satisfaction and recommendation, with almost 90% revealing that they were either very satisfied or satisfied with their new Gladedale home, and 90% endorsing our product through a willingness to recommend Gladedale to a friend.

We intend to further engage with customers to learn of their utility consumption so that we may measure the efficiency of our products, and where appropriate, implement positive changes either by design or by providing advice on efficient usage.

We are able to demonstrate the car-share schemes we promote, along with our development of community web links.

Our design and planning procedures incorporate provision for safe access and egress, as well as security in the home or office, and the safety of the individual living or working there. Our customer induction procedures and handover demonstrations ensure clear articulation of the ‘safe and secure’ message.

Our theme of 'Space, Specification and Quality' is designed to create a positive living and working experience, developing sustainable environments that act as catalysts to bring the community together.

In our commercial property activities, the latest element of our Quartermile development in Edinburgh was designed to a ‘Very Good’ rating under the BREEAM classification of the Buildings Research Establishment (BRE) and is now progressing to become one of the first commercial buildings in Scotland to secure an 'In-Use' rating under BREEAM.
