Policy for procurement of timber from sustainable sources
One of the key objectives of the Gladedale Group is to continually strive to become a field leader in private development and partnership property development within the wider construction industry.
As a responsible organisation, we have identified that our actions or inactions can have significant positive or negative impacts both socio-economically and environmentally.
Our industry uses significant amounts of timber in its products. Timber is a material that can result in major socio-economic and environmental impacts. Therefore, we have implemented a Procurement of Timber Policy that specifies measures to be adopted across all our businesses in an effort to mitigate detrimental impact.
We aim to ensure the following:-
- Where practicable, timber products will only be procured via a supply partner who can adequately demonstrate and provide appropriate evidences that the supplied material has been procured from known legal and sustainable sources (PEFC/FSC approved, for example).
- Continue to actively promote among our customers, contractors and sub-contractors, the importance of procurement and the use of timber materials from sustainable sources.
- Develop methods of continually improving our purchasing activities in conjunction with our supply chain.
- A regular audit of our own procedures to ensure continued compliance with this policy and any associated procedures.
- Regularly develop and report on the objectives and targets set to reduce the volume of timber purchased from uncertified sources.
- Conduct regular external audits of our supply chain to confirm continued compliance of the product has been maintained, along with the necessary traceability.
The Executive Board of the Gladedale Group undertakes to review the effectiveness of this policy at least once every calendar year.
